Growing up is hard to do!

When we came back from our trip to Texas, Sterling and I felt that it was time to get Myles situated with sleeping in his own bed. He will be sharing his room with the baby soon and I don't think that a toddler and a newborn in the same crib is prudent!

So, we went out to get the goods- new mattress and bed. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a bed that I really liked so I had to order one off of eBay. (Which, by the way, is going to take 6 weeks to get here!! What is up with that!!?) Anywho, we settled on leaving the mattress on the floor. Here are some pictures from the first night.

At first, Myles likes this new concept. I don't know if he realizes yet that he is going to sleep on the floor!

Myles has also never had a gate blocking his doorway before. So, he decides to check it out.

Then he decides to test in out!! Sorry baby, there is no escape!

Finally Myles gives up on that idea. He did retreat to his mattress after this. Sterling and I were so excited and hopeful . . . until we went to watch T.V. and listened to Myles talking and whimpering and yelling at his doorway for at least an hour or two!!

When he finally did fall asleep that first night, he managed to give us quite a scare. I came upstairs to check on him and he wasn't in his room!! It didn't take me long to realize that he was under his crib. Poor guy, he did have a rough time trying to figure out where exactly he was supposed to sleep for the first week!

This is how I found him one day during nap time!! I am happy to report that he has now come to the conclusion that his new mattress is more comfortable then any other place in his room.

Only one week to accept the new bed? That isn't bad at all. I'm loving the basket pic and the sock monkey.

I love the sleeping in a basket shot! Maybe he knew he could sleep on his new bed, just wanted to try out the new freedom of picking where.

The basket shot is priceless. He is adorable. Are you still interested in betrothing him to my Tessie? They would have cute kiddies. ;)

Thanks for sharing this with us!

What a cutie pie. I really love the basket shot. My kids have never found such great places to sleep though my three year wants to sleep under his bed. Thanks for sharing.

OMG, sleeping in the basket is hilarious! i would love to hear how the process goes as i'm thinking about when to move our nearly 2 year old to a "big boy bed." i'm wondering how old your basket sleeper is. . . maybe about the same.
