Whether I voted for McCain or Obama . . .

**My thoughts after the election . . . just getting around to publishing it now!**

. . . I am still very proud to witness this fine day in American history. I must admit that I became a little emotional last night as I realized not only how monumental this occasion is, but also what it implies for the future of our society.

We have officially elected our first black president. I feel so proud to be part of this country . . . to see progress in the attempts to create a more equal society - even if it is only just the beginning.

"What we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow." - Obama

Martin Luther King Jr. set the process in motion years ago and today we saw his words come to pass. I found a quote from Jay-Z that says,

"Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. Obama's running so we all can fly"

This is one more step towards a more united people and country as far as prejudice and discrimination goes. This is something that I am proud of. This is a special day.

"(This is our chance) to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth -- that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people." - Obama
